Bizarro World and tales of the mysterious post it people

It’s happened a few times, I’ve been in the library, pretending I can read, and opened a book to find secret messages lodged between the pages. Today I found a pink post it note, in the manifesto of surrealism by Andre Breton, and it said ” If you find this interesting email me “

I think it’s really fun to leave secret non permanent messages to people, and it’s fastly becoming a diy culture jam and marketing technique.

It makes me want to get a job at Borders, so that I could stick crayon drawings of Gorilla’s heads onto page three girls and generally fuck with the things that I don’t like.

I made contact with the post it person, maybe it’s an art student wanting to discuss the finer points of Breton’s work, or a PHD student researching unconventional communication techniques… or it could just be a nutter.

Whilst perusing the stacks I came across a graphic novel called Bizarro world, where the dc universe meets heavy satire and exceptional graphics, by supercomicdrawers like my personal favourites Gilbert and Jaime Hernandez as well as many others.

It’s well worth a look, a refreshing modern twist on the lifes of superhero’s.

The sad thing is that they haven’t released a new one since 2005. So if it sparks something, you’ll have to take pen to paper…
